Call for Papers for a Panel at the American Literature Association, May 23 – 26, 2013, Boston, Massachusetts – EXTENDED DEADLINE: JANUARY 28, 2013
The Southern California Society for the Study of American Women Writers will host a panel at the 2013 American Literature Association conference. The title of our panel is “Aesthetics and Sentiment, Early and Late.” Aesthetics and sentiment have received significant attention in relation to the “middle” years of American literature, i.e., the nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries. This panel looks at the “outside” periods—works published prior to 1800 and after 1950 (approximate dates)—to examine the workings and interactions of aesthetics and sentiment within and between these two periods. We seek proposals focused on American women writers working in any language or genre.

The American Literature Association’s 24th annual conference will meet at the Westin Copley Place in Boston on May 23-26, 2013 (Thursday through Sunday of Memorial Day weekend). The deadline for proposals is January 30, 2013.
